È uma substância importante que ajuda na formação de parte das células do corpo e também de alguns hormônios. Ajuda a proteger as células nervosas e contribui na produção de vitamina D e da bile( fluido produzido pelo fígado para evitar a putrefação de alguns alimentos e na absorção de substâncias nutritivas ao passarem pelo intestino.[1] ). Ele é produzido em nosso organismo, mas também o adquirimos pela aimentação (ingestão de alimentos gordurosos). Quando em excesso no sangue, fica depositado na parede das artérias, formando placas de gordura que podem “entupir” os vasos, dificultando a passagem do sangue. Esse processo é chamado de Aterosclerose e pode causar diversos problemas cardiovasculares.
A UNICA FORMA DE SABER SE O COLESTEROL ESTA ALTO É UM EXAME DE SANGUE (ou um infarto , mas ai já é tarde )

LDL (Ruim): é o responsável pela formação de placas de gordura que prejudicam a passagem do sangue nos vasos sanguíneos.
